DATA & PRIVACY
Your work, with clear data boundaries.
Applies to the current account and server-rendered export version. Updated October 9, 2026.
Local drafts and instant previews
Chat drafts, phone settings and export logs are stored in the current browser. Editing previews are low-resolution, watermarked and generated locally. Editing, dragging and scrolling do not upload dialogue for previewing. Drafts do not sync across devices; clearing website data removes them.
Temporary processing for exports
During export, the conversation, avatars, images and styles are temporarily sent over HTTPS to MsgShot servers. Documents and uploaded assets are used for this generation and are not persisted as cloud drafts. Export files are retained for 24 hours and downloads check session ownership. Expired files become inaccessible immediately and are normally removed within the next five minutes. Legacy previews last at most ten minutes; local previews are not stored on the server.
Accounts and authorization records
Passwords are stored as salted scrypt hashes. Login cookies use HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite. Balances, administrator credit grants and export job records support authorization and accounting and remain after temporary file cleanup. Email verification, password recovery and online checkout are not currently available.
Language preferences and visits
Language switches save a browser preference and a msgshot.com preference cookie so the public site and workbench can share the selection. An explicit language in the URL takes precedence. Servers receive the IP address, requested URL and browser technical information needed to serve the site. No third-party analytics or search-platform account integration is enabled. Export counts are recorded per account; security rate-limit keys are hashed and removed after expiry.
Managing your data
Delete projects in the workbench or clear website data for msgshot.com and app.msgshot.com in your browser. Back up important work first. Downloaded images are saved to the local location you choose.
